Starting July 1, CGR Director, Dr. Miguel L Allende, began a one year sabbatical at the University of California Davis Genome Center (pictured). He has been replaced in the interim by Principal Investigator Dr. Mauricio González who will fulfil the role of Director while Dr. Martín Montecino will continue to be the Deputy Director. Dr. Allende expects to strengthen ties to UC Davis researchers and will initiate a number of collaboration projects with them.

Confirmed: October 7th, 2016: Annual CGR Retreat

The CGR will have its annual retreat on Friday, October 7th at the Plaza San Francisco Hotel. All Investigators, postdocs and graduate students are invited to attend and present their work. Emphasis will be placed on the most recent advances in the Center 's Genome Projects.

New genomes sequenced at the CGR.

The genome of Cistanthe longiscapa, an ephemeral plant from the Chilean desert that flowers only after a rare rainfall event, has been sequenced at the CGR. Using diverse sequencing technologies, we have assembled a genome of 844Mb with an N50 of 125Kb.

Dr. Maass at the ARMI in Australia:

CGR Principal Investigator Alejandro Maass carried out a research visit to the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute (ARMI) where he met the Director, Dr. Peter Currie and other researchers. He also visited the Monash University Bioinformatics Platform.The CGR has longstanding cooperation with ARMI, that is now funded by CONICYT.
