Creative Education Highlight!
This past weekend, we sent a few volunteers and some fun reclaimed papery things over to The Shop - Homewood, a new community space, to take part in a super fun and busy Valentine making party! Even the mayor showed up! The purpose of the party was to create handmade cards spreading love and warm welcomes to neighbors throughout Pittsburgh, especially refugee and immigrant families. The event was organized by Sloane Davidson, with the help of many volunteers. A TON of cards were made and they turned out amazing. These two, pictured above, were made by an enthusiastic young maker. One was a valentine dedicated to Iraq, where his family had come from, and the other to America, their new home. More photos from this event can be seen here on The Shop's Facebook page
