A Message from the City of Port Townsend

MERCHANTS--Given the forecast for rain and high winds over the next several days, please inspect your immediate areas to ensure that loose items such as signs, display merchandise, trash and recycling cans, etc. are secured.  Thanks for being prepared in advance in case of high winds.

OCTOBER EVENTS--Uptown, Downtown, it's our Town!

 

Oct. 14-15, Working Image will be holding a "From Paris to Port Townsend" Clothing Sale at Mt. View Commons, 1925 Blaine St. from 10 am - 3 pm. Working Image is a 501c3 nonprofit providing clothing for women in need.
 

Oct. 14-15, 21-22, & 28-29, Kiwanis Haunt Town at the Port Townsend Elks Lodge! Proceeds go to Port Townsend Kiwanis Club, Port Townsend Elks lodge, and local school ASB programs. Make it a double feature and take a Twisted History Tour, if you dare!

Oct. 15, Olympic Discovery Trail Benefit Concert featuring Freddy Pink at McCurdy Pavilion, Fort Worden State Park. Silent Auction, BBQ Dinner and Dancing for all ages!

Through Oct. 23, Key City Public Theatre presents 4,000 Miles by Amy Herzog.

Oct. 15, LENT Fund Fall deadline. Having a mini-business emergency? Or looking to move or expand your business? Apply for LENT Funds! LENT Low-Interest Microloan Funds are a tool to offset some of the financial impacts that Port Townsend historic districts businesses endure from emergency situations. Find out more here!

Oct. 19, Main Street Holidays in Port Townsend Sign Up Deadline! The Port Townsend Main Street Program invites you to help make Port Townsend a very merry destination for your customers this holiday season. There are festive special events designed for all ages, holiday decorations, and a marketing campaign inviting visitors and residents to “LOOK HERE FIRST!” for holiday shopping and fun experiences. Please partner with us to make the Holidays a resounding success.

Oct. 22, Centrum Gala Dinner & Auction. Help students of all ages come to Centrum for creative experiences that change lives. 
 
Oct. 23 Jefferson Healthcare invites the community to  the ribbon cutting and tours  for the new Emergency and Special Services Building.
Ribbon Cutting 3:00pm; Guided Tours & refreshments 3:45 pm

Oct. 24-29, KPTZ Fall Fund Drive. Support our local community radio station during the KPTZ 91.9 FM Fall Fund Drive! Call 360-554-4330 between 9 am - 6 pm or make a donation online here.

Oct. 27-28, Olympic Peninsula Tourism Summit at Fort Worden. Join colleagues from around the Olympic Peninsula and beyond to hear an excellent line-up of speakers present their perspectives and experiences about what makes this area so compelling for visitors and locals alike. Oct. 28, Fall HUD Loan deadline - Low interest loans to rehab commercial buildings in Port Townsend’s Commercial Historic Districts. Dozens of historic districts buildings have undergone improvements thanks to the Main Street HUD Loan Program. It's easy to apply.

Oct. 30, Chamber Music at
Centrum. A musical experience unlike any other.

Oct. 31, Main Street's 22nd Annual Trick or Treat! Get ready for trick or treating fun in the heart of the downtown historic district. PLEASE NOTE: Water Street and some side streets from Madison to Polk will be closed to traffic from 3:15 pm -5:30 pm for public safety at this event. This event is sponsored by The Port Townsend Main Street Program and Generous Participating Merchants! Special thanks to Janet Emery of Kinetics and Port Townsend Safeway.
Merchants - Safeway is offering 10% off Halloween Candy to the Downtown Main Street Businesses, stop by the Main Street Office to pick up your voucher.

Happy 4th Birthday to Quimper Mercantile, Port Townsend’s community-owned store! Join them Saturday, Oct. 15th & Sunday, Oct. 16th to help them celebrate - there will be great Specials, Sales, Snacks and Hourly Drawings. 

The Boiler Room will be celebrating their birthday on Oct. 15th, Happy 23rd to the Boiler Room! Stop by to see live performances from various members of the community! There will be music and poetry all day with open mic times to honor the current community.  

"Adopt a Snowflake" - Help Port Townsend Sparkle for the Holidays with the Main Street Adopt a Snowflake Program. Looking for downtown building and business owners to adopt gently used 3 ft. LED snowflakes. Main Street Member Exclusive - $50 (sold as is on a nonrefundable basis, while supplies last, some restrictions apply).

PLEASE NOTE: TRANSPORTATION ALERT: Port Townsend-Coupeville ferry route to be closed Nov 5 & 6. Washington State Ferries is planning construction work at the Keystone Dock on the weekend of November 5-6, 2016. As a result, there will be no ferry service on the Port Townsend-Coupeville ferry route for those two days. Reservations for Monday, November 7, are also not available to allow for the possibility that construction could take longer than expected. The final decision regarding when the route will be reopened will be made by the WSF project team on Sunday afternoon, November 6. For questions, please contact your WSF media representatives.

The Port Townsend Main Street Program is pleased to offer the opportunity to put your state B&O tax dollars to work here in Port Townsend through the work of our Main Street Tax Incentive Program.
 
It's never too early to start thinking about next year! Put Your State B&O Taxes To Work Here In Port Townsend Through The 2017 Main Street Tax Incentive Program. 75% of your donation is returned to you via B&O tax credits in 2018. In addition, your entire contribution may qualify as a 501(c)(3) charitable deduction on your 2017 federal income tax return.

The Port Townsend Main Street Program can receive up to $133,333 in contributions. Approvals are given each year on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 12:01 am, January 1, 2017, made online through the Dept. of Revenue’s (DOR) website. DOR’s online portal will continue to accept tax credit contributions until the state cap of $1.5M in tax credits has been reached. And as in 2016, we do anticipate that the $1.5M tax credit cap will be met early in the 2017 year, so we encourage you to pledge early.
