AUGUST EVENTS--Uptown, Downtown, it's our Town!

Aug. 17, Through the Wall: This Town Is A Living Thing with returning instructor Nhatt Nichols. A collaborative project of The Boiler Room and their neighbor, Northwind Arts Center, which provides visual art instruction from local artists to folks from The Boiler Room's extended community.

Aug. 18, Port Townsend Main Street's Concerts on the Dock featuring Cold Comfort with Kilcid Band! Seating opens at 4:30, Music from 5-7:30 pm at Pope Marine Plaza! Paella House will be onsite cooking up delicious Paella! Grab a friend and come out for a rockin' good time!

Aug. 19-21 & 26-28, Key City Public Theatre Shakespeare in the Park production:
The Two Gentlemen of Verona, a raucous comedy that examines the many facets of love and friendship through the lens of Shakespeare’s signature sharp wit.

Aug. 20-21 & 27-28,
Olympic Music Festival at the Wheeler Theater at Fort Worden.

Aug. 20, Summer's Here! It's time for the UPTOWN STREET FAIRGreat local music, the Port Townsend Arts & Crafts Fair, the Jefferson County Farmers’ Market, tasty food on the street, free art activities for families and much more…  The Arts and Crafts Fair and Farmers Market begin at 9 am, children’s activities follow from 10 am - 3 pm, and music from 10 am to 5 pm. The Uptown Pub is hosting an outdoor beer garden too. The “GRANDLY LOCAL PARADE” is at 2 pm (No religious or political entries, please). Come make a day of it in historic, fun Uptown. Poster art by Michael Hale. Coordinated by the Port Townsend Main Street Program and sponsored by generous local businesses. All day music sponsored by the Washington State Arts Commission, ArtsWA and The National Endowment for the Arts.

Aug. 20, Kiwanis 27th Annual Classic Car Show at Memorial Field!

Aug. 21, All County Picnicfostering community and raising awareness about local emergency resources. The Picnic is a chance to shake hands with local law enforcement, eat (free!) corn on the cob with your neighbors and learn about the resources that exist to serve you and your community. Featuring live music, food vendors, group games, information booths, speakers and demonstrations, and kids' activities, this celebration is as fun as it is informing.

Aug. 25, Port Townsend Main Street's Concerts on the Dock featuring Joy in Mudville! Seating opens at 4:30, Music from 5-7:30 pm at Pope Marine Plaza! Mo Chilli BBQ will be onsite cooking up mouth-watering Texas style BBQ!

Aug. 27-28, Art Port Townsend
Studio Tours, visit local artists, observe demonstrations, and discuss the creative process throughout an intensive weekend of art from 10 am to 4 pm.


Girls' Night Out is coming up! We held a merchant planning meeting on August 10th at Alchemy Bistro. Thanks to Sue Arthur and our Gig Harbor Waterfront Alliance colleagues who shared tips about how to plan a successful Girls' Night Out event in our businesses (sign up forms are on our website.) And congrats to Frank Iuro and Lois Venarchick who won the door prizes--Jefferson County Fair passes and t-shirts! Thanks also to Kris Nelson for hosting us, and thanks to all who came. This years theme is "CONNECT THE DOTS" at Girls' Night Out, Thursday, October 6th. 

Banana Leaf Thai Bistro has new owners. Freda & Tom are off to Lexington, Kentucky to open a new restaurant, we wish them the best and would also like to welcome Pat and Ann!

Kitsap Bank is extending the application deadline for the 2016 edg3 FUND small business competition to Friday, August 26 at 5 pm. Semi-finalists will be announced on Friday, September 2. 
Wooden Boat Festival is seeking festival volunteers! 

The Faces of Port Townsend by Mike McAndrew is available at Printery Communications in Uptown. The pages are filled with 106 portraits of locals, with stories that describe about what brought them to Port Townsend.

The Port Townsend Main Street Program is pleased to offer the opportunity to put your state B&O tax dollars to work here in Port Townsend through the work of our Main Street Tax Incentive Program.

Washington State has reached its cap for 2016. Thank you to the participants who were able to pledge to Port Townsend for the 2016 Main Street Tax Incentive Program.
It's never too early to start thinking about next year! Put Your State B&O Taxes To Work Here In Port Townsend Through The Main Street Tax Incentive Program for 2017.

In 2005, the Port Townsend Main Street Program worked with other revitalization programs across the state to introduce and help pass legislation creating a state B&O Tax Credit Incentive Program for businesses investing in local downtown revitalization programs like ours.

75% of your donation is returned to you via B&O tax credits in 2018. In addition, your entire contribution may qualify as a 501(c)(3) charitable deduction on your 2017 federal income tax return.

The Port Townsend Main Street Program can receive up to $133,333 in contributions. Approvals are given each year on a first-come, first-served basis as of January 1.
