Thank you for subscribing and reading Issue 13! I took a side step away from quilting this week to sew tea cozies for gifts and garments for my daughters. I wrote a free tea cozy pattern/tutorial and I have a finished quilt to show you.

Hello Quilting Friends! Welcome to Issue 13 of The Daydreams of Quilts Post. We are enjoying an early spring here in Alberta Canada and with that comes the realization that my kids need new clothes. I have several patterns both free and purchased to work with and last year I bought quite a bit of fabric and I didn't sew the clothes I meant to sew! Fortunately the patterns come with many sizes so I am sewing clothes now. I might even make some extras for my Etsy shop.
First let's get to my free pattern!
With Mother's Day coming up I was thinking of what to make for my Mom. She reads this newsletter so she's going to know about her gift now but I may just have to come up with an extra surprise. ;) My Mom collects tea pots (mostly pottery ones) and loose tea. Along with that she also collects tea cozies. I have created an easy tea cozy pattern and tutorial and while I was at it I sewed four tea cozies! One for Mom, one for me, one for my Canuck B-day Club April birthday girl and one for my Aunt. You can download the free pattern here and visit my blog for the tutorial and instructions.
Finished Charity Quilt:
I finished the Spiced Chai Quilt from the blook "Vintage Quilt Revival." This quilt will be auctioned this Sunday evening in a silent auction at my church. I just sewed the last four feet of binding this morning so I can take it to a board meeting this evening and show the board. :) I hope it does well.
Garment Sewing for my Daughters:
I cannot recommend Oliver + S patterns enough! These are such great patterns and I get excellent results every time. Plus my kids look adorable in the outfits. :) This past week I sewed two pairs of knit legging, two pairs of shorts and a sundress for my 7 year old daughter and a pair of shorts and a sundress for my 19 month old daughter. Here are some photos of my work and I'll try to link to the patterns.
The leggings are from  the "Playtime Dress, Tunic & Leggings" pattern. The shorts are the "Sunny Day Shorts" free pattern and the dress is the "Popover Sundress" free pattern.
My elder daughter was disappointed that her baby sister got the bright coloured fabric so I told her she could colour the succulents on her dress with fabric markers. She did a good job. :) Both girls wore there dresses to church on Sunday morning. I am about to embark on two ruffled halter tops (also a free pattern from Oliver + S) made with Heather Ross Tiger Lily "Ballerinas". Can't wait to see them on the girls!
