Accessorize this Easter Holiday!

Easter is almost here! Time to decorate our little hearts out. Did you know that Uroboros specializes in creating a variety of glass in unique shapes and sizes just right for putting on those fine details, creating clean patterns, and adding stunning filigree to any piece? The decorative eggs featured above are a simple and fun project to replicate. To make your own, cut oval shapes from fusible glass then adorn them with any compatible Uroboros accessory glass such as: confetti, noodle bits, sprinkles and/or dots. 2016 Oregon Glass Guild Fuse-A-Thon

Saturday, May 14th 10am to 2pm
Uroboros Glass Factory
2139 N. Kerby Ave. Portland, OR

We’ll need all hands on deck on Saturday, May 14th for the 2016 Fuse-A-Thon! Every year Uroboros hosts this glass making extravaganza for the Oregon Glass Guild. We donate System 96 and FX90 sheet glass, frit and accessory glass for OGG members to create plates and bowls for sale during the Waterfront Blues Festival. All the proceeds go to support the Oregon Food Bank’s ‘Empty Bowls’ program. Participants in the Fuse-A-Thon can create a plate or bowl for free and make more pieces with a $5 check payable to the Oregon Food Bank for each additional bowl. This year’s theme is “Fishes” and our esteemed judge will be artist Walter Gordinier.  $50 Uroboros Gift Certificates will be awarded for the three best pieces.  OGG members should bring their favorite hand tools, safety gear appropriate for your project, and any pre-fired ‘parts’ you want to use or share.  Stations will be set up for working in FX90 and in System 96.  All of the OGG chapters are welcome! If you’d like to attend the event and are not an Oregon Glass Guild Member you can join here.

News on the Environmental Front

It’s now been six weeks since the environmental bombshell landed on the glass making community in Portland. Here’s an update from our President, Eric Lovell.
