Sushi plates featured were made with Uroboros Casting Rocks by artist Lisa Vogt.

Casting rocks are unannealed random shapes between the sizes of grapes and apricots. They are the lowest cost source of our premium formula casting glass. If your casting does not need the low bubble count and uniform shape of Casting Billets, choose Casting Rocks as an economical alternative. For blowers, they are also a great option as a replacement for Spectrum’s discontinued nuggets. Each container has a variety of piece sizes, so you can pick the size and weight you need to fit any mold. Click here to see our selections in System 96 and here for FX90. To purchase, contact your favorite supplier. You can find one here!
Questions about firing schedules? When planning a firing schedule for heavier castings, please refer to our Firing Guidelines. You will find that System 96 casting products can be fired at slightly lower temperatures than 90 COE ‘Bullseye Compatible’ or Artista fusible glass products, so you save on firing costs.

We are happy to announce that several Art Glass, FX90, and System 96 color mixes are available again!
Despite the current restrictions on using several of our crucial colorants, we have found ways acceptable to the Oregon DEQ to safely produce a fair number of restricted colors in sheet glass mixes by repurposing other stock we have on hand. These are available in limited quantities now, even though many were out of stock just a few weeks ago, so keep checking with your supplier.
System 96 colors by Spectrum available from Uroboros NOW!
We are already filling orders for some System 96 colors previously made by Spectrum, but now unavailable due to their closure. Colors not affected by environmental restrictions and that can be made right now have been given Uroboros ID numbers as we have for frit and other items for years. We will begin to produce and stock these as Spectrum’s supply of each item runs out. See the list of what is doable now here!

An update from our June Resident Artist Joseph Cavalieri

The most boring part of public school was when students returned in the fall and read their “What I did over my Summer Vacation” essays. As adults, most of us don’t have summer vacations, but I did get to experience something similar and much better: A month away from my New York studio to spend time working at the Uroboros glass factory in Portland, Oregon.
