Get a Jump on Summer

Summer offers a unique opportunity for students to engage in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) learning with topics of their choosing.

Rec & Ed summer STEAM camps engage students in exciting ways that look and feel different from learning during the school year. By engaging campers in hands-on, inquiry-based learning, students are motivated to immerse themselves in activities without the stigma of summer school.

Check out all of our summer camp STEAM offerings at By enrolling the same child in 4 or more weeks of eligible full day summer camps in one transaction, you save 10% off the total cost.

Craft Together

Cheer up the February-March long winter days by celebrating National Children’s Craft’s Day on March 14th. Crafts are a wonderful way to stimulate creativity, encourage curiosity, develop bilateral coordination, enhance fine motor skills and improve visual processing skills.  Crafting also provides a wonderful opportunity for children to be imaginative and learn something new while being unplugged and away from electronics.

Engaging in craft activities as a family can be an inexpensive way to have fun on a budget. Ann Arbor has a wonderful local craft resource in the Scrap Box (which is filled with hundreds of interesting objects at reasonable prices). School Age Child Care has craft time built into their daily plans. Projects range from simply yarn art pictures to scrap art tower creations.  Pictured are Eberwhite’s emoji plates.  Looking for additional cool ideas, check out a few of these fun craft ideas!
